CT Scan of 1,000 Year Old Buddha Statue Reveals Mummified Monk Inside
A CT scan and endoscopy carried out by the Netherlands-based Drents Museum at the Meander Medical Centre in Amersfoort revealed the mummified remains of Liuquan, a Buddhist master. The organs had been removed prior to mummification and researches discovered rolls of paper scraps covered in Chinese writing.
Some practicing Buddhist believe that Liquan is not in-fact dead, but in an advanced state of meditation.
