Renewal fee for five-year passport reduced

The fee for the renewal of Malaysia international passports for five years is now reduced to RM200, effective today.

The Immigration Department said in a statement that the two-year passport which costs RM100, will not be issued anymore.

The fee for senior citizens (60 years and above), children below 12, Haj pilgrims, and students below 21 and studying abroad, is set at RM100.

Exemption of payment is granted to handicapped or disabled persons on condition that he or she produces a letter from the Welfare Department.

Memos on the new directives and charges are also being displayed at immigration offices.

Previously, the five year period passport cost RM300.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak had announced the fee reduction during last year's budget.
