There's a nip in the air at the Winter Wonderland lobby of the Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur where a gingerbread castle, adorned with Christmas candies and goodies, stands. Here, you can buy cinnamon stars, almond gingerbread, chocolate snowmen, chocolate santas, stollen, pudding, fruit cake, log cakes, mince pies, candy canes, panettone and amaretti.
MAGICAL MILL
At The Mill restaurant, French chef Laurent Lherisson offers a buffet spread to reflect the festive season. On Christmas Eve, the highlight is roast turkey with roasted vegetables and stuffing, to go with giblet gravy and cranberry sauce, roast beef with fries and roasted vegetables as well as beef tenderloin medallions with foie gras.
If you prefer fish, thick cod fillets are topped with olive tapenade and served with sides of cranberry sauce. It may sound unusual but the sweetness of the cranberry seems to temper well the rich side of cod.
But first, have a slice of chicken liver terrine topped with grape jelly and red currants to go with muesli toast and a fresh garden salad.
On Christmas day, it's European favourites. Think fruit mince pies, dandy fruit cake, almond paste stollen, Yule log and Christmas pudding.
Do bring the young ones on Dec 25 for the Kid's Christmas Day Party (noon to 3pm) where mini chocolate log cakes, mince fruit pies, Christmas cookies, cheesy chicken sausages, mac `n' cheese and more await. Parents can relax and enjoy their lunch while the kids have a blast with sand art, face painting, balloon sculptures, jewellery making and a clown magic show.
For New Year, there's Alaskan crab on ice (oh my, the legs are longer than my arm), scallops, oysters and mussels as well as spring chicken galantine, smoked meats and rillettes. Then go for whole poached salmon, beef racks and a selection of pies with choice of beef rendang, chicken mushroom, seafood and lamb masala.
The Christmas Eve and New Year Eve dinner are priced from RM148++ per person and Christmas Day buffet lunch from RM88++ per person. New Year Day lunch is at RM70++ per person. Children below 12 dine at half price.

Bistro 160 at the lobby is set for a huge New Year's eve party with festive mocktails, cocktails, sparkling juices, liquors and exclusive wines. You simply have to try the eggnog ice-cream, chef Laurent's tropical version of eggnog, free with purchases of goodies worth RM50 and above at the bistro. The ice-cream is topped with crumbled caramelised honey. Just pour in a shot of bourbon and you'll be in a party mood in no time.
Come watch the fireworks display at Bukit Bintang to say goodbye to 2013 and to usher in a new year of hope and joy in 2014. Shima & Trio will entertain on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.
