Chua Boon Huat dies in car crash (Malaysia National hockey player)

National hockey player Chua Boon Huat, 33, was killed when the car he was driving collided with a lorry at the Damansara – Puchong Highway (LDP) at 2.25am today.



According to NST Online, the crash occurred near the Kelana Jaya LRT station.

The Damansara Fire and Rescue Station was informed about an accident between a Proton Perdana and a water-tank lorry at 2.40am.



Firemen arrived at the scene and found Chua trapped in the wreckage and he died at the scene from head injuries.

It was believed that Chua had rammed into the side of the highway-cleaning lorry.

Hailing from Bukit Cina, Malacca, Chua was one of the longest-serving hockey players in the national squad.

He made his debut as a 17-year-old with the Malaysia hockey team in the 1998 Commonwealth Games and played more than 300 times for Malaysia.

RIP Chua Boon Huat who passed away in an accident last night. One of Malaysia's best hockey player, coach. Our hearts go out to his loved ones.
