1 million face water cut tomorrow

One million residents in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Gombak and Klang/Shah Alam, will see their taps run dry tomorrow as a treatment plant is shut down for upgrading works.

The Sungai Selangor Phase 2 (SSP2) plant will be closed at 8am tomorrow for the replacement of switchboards and sluice valve as well as pipe repairs. The disruption is expected to end by 9pm tomorrow.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor corporate communications and public affairs assistant general manager Priscilla Alfred said 66 tankers and 750 static tanks would be on standby in areas facing water woes 24 hours after SSP2 resumes operations.

In Kuala Lumpur, the affected areas include Bukit Kiara, parts of Bukit Damansara, Segambut, Mont Kiara, areas in Jalan Duta, parts of Jalan Kuching and Jalan Ipoh, Sentul, parts of Jalan Mahameru, Sri Hartamas, Bukit Sentul, areas around KLCC, parts of Kampung Baru, parts of Cheras, and in the district of Gombak covering Bandar Sri Damansara and parts of Kepong and in the district of Petaling, areas like Desa Petaling, Jalan Klang Lama, Jalan Kuchai Lama, Bandar Baru Bukit Jalil; Jalan SS2/50 to SS2/72, SS2; Sungai Way, SS9; Section 11 until Section 14, Petaling Jaya; Section 16 and Section 17, Petaling Jaya; Section 17A, Damansara New Village; Section 19 to Section 22, Petaling Jaya.

In Shah Alam and Klang, the affected areas are Seksyen 25 -Sri Lembayung; Seksyen 32; Seksysen 33; Bandar Putera; Putra Heights; Kampung Bukit Lanchong; Seksysen 22; Seksyen 25 -- Axis; Seksyen 26; Seksyen 27; Seksyen 28; Kampung Kebun Bunga; Kampung Baru Hicom; Subang Mas, Batu Tiga; Batu Tiga, Shah Alam; Batu 8, Bukit Kemuning; Bukit Naga; UEP; USJ Subang Jaya.
