Dell Alienware 15 & 17: Slim and speedy

Dell unveiled its latest gaming laptops, the Alienware 15 and 17, which are now 20% thinner than their predecessors but pack even more firepower.

They can be configured to include the latest and fastest technologies, including Intel Core i7 quad-core processors and Nvidia GTX 980m graphics chips.

Dell says the notebooks meet the power requirements of the graphics chips, allowing them to run at maximum performance. Also, the Intel Core i7 processors will automatically overclock themselves if plugged into the Alienware Graphics Amplifier which is sold separately.

For the first time Dell is offering the option of including an Ultra HD display, which has four times the pixels of full HD screen, for the Alienware 15. Its larger sibling, the Alienware 17, only gets a full HD display.

For the screen, gamers can choose either an anti-glare full-HD IPS display or TrueLife with touchscreen feature.

The new notebooks were constructed with copper, aluminum and carbon-fibre composites for a rigid design, the company says.

Other standout features include Klipsch-powered speakers, Killer 1525 Wireless Card and the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3 audio software.

The price for the Alienware 15 will start from RM4,999 and the Alienware 17 from RM6,299, depending on configuration, when they become available in March. ~ The Star
