MAS retires flight code MH370 as a mark of respect to passengers and crew
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will retire the MH370 and MH371 flight codes from its Kuala Lumpur- Beijing-Kuala Lumpur route, as a mark of respect to the passengers and crew on board the flight MH370 who went missing last Saturday.
MAS said the flight code MH370 will be replaced with MH318 for Kuala Lumpur to Beijing route while the flight code MH371 will be replaced with MH319 for the Beijing to Kuala Lumpur route.
MAS confirmed that the new flight codes will take effect from tomorrow.
“There are no changes to the frequency of our services and we will continue to operate double daily services to Beijing.
“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families of our colleagues and passengers of MH 370,” MAS said in a media statement.
A missing flight lost contact with Subang Air Traffic Control, at 2.40am on March 8.
It was scheduled to arrive in Beijing at 6.30am but it never made its way there.
A total of 239 passengers and crew from various nations including Malaysia were on board the flight.
