Robbers broke into Director Mamat Khalid's house
Renowned film director Mohammad Mohd Khalid or popularly known as Mamat Khalid suffered more than RM100,000 losses when robbers broke into his house in Lebuh Hillview, Taman Ipoh Jaya Timur here earlier today.
In the 3.30am incident, robbers drove off with his Mitsubishi Triton along with RM500 cash, an antique camera, iPad, and a PlayStation Portable (PSP) set.
Recalling the incident, Mamat Khalid's wife, Hasmah Hassan, 50, said at the time of the incident, she and her two children were at home while her husband was away filming a show at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).
She said when the robbers entered the house, she, her son Mohd Khalid Adam Mohamad,19, and daughter Nur Hassanah,14, were asleep upstairs.
They only realised their house was broken into when they got up to perform the Subuh prayers.
She said the robbers could have cut the alarm before entering the house through the windows.
"The robbers only took away what was downstairs and drove off with the car.
"Nevertheless, we are grateful that none of us were hurt in the incident," she said when met at her home, adding that her husband had been informed of the incident.
Hasmah said she later lodged a report at the Gunung Rapat police station at about 11am.
Police took the closed circuit television (CCTV) recordings from her neighbour's house to help with investigations.
