Chinese New Year '688 Trail of Fortune' at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

Six hundred and eighty-eight horses are galloping into the Pavilion shopping mall this Chinese New Year, creating a trail of fortune, longevity, health and happiness for everyone.

Best of all, if you act fast enough, you can buy one or more of these horse figurines to keep the good luck flowing into your home or office and at the same time, share the festive joy with old folks who will benefit from your purchase.

From the Bukit Bintang entrance to the mall's Centre Court, the custom-designed horses are everywhere. Spot them grazing in the Chinese emperor's royal courtyard created in the centre court or gazing out curiously while perched on rocks.

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur unveiled its Chinese New Year decorations on Jan 9 with the theme "688 Trail of Fortune," to reflect the 688 horses on display.

The mall has painstakingly recreated a majestic, traditional Chinese courtyard where Emperors of old Chinese dynasties would ride their horses or go for a leisurely stroll. The horses have cherry blossom flower motifs on them and come in four different variants in red or white colours. The horses' hooves and mane are golden in colour.

Each of the horses can be purchased for a minimum donation of RM100. The money will be given to 10 different old folks homes throughout Malaysia.

According to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur's director of marketing Kung Suan Ai, to purchase the horses, shoppers need to register at the mall's concierge station after which they will be invited to pick up their "Horses of Fortune" during a special celebration on Chap Goh Meh on Feb 14.

Visitors to the mall will also be treated to a visual feast as hundreds of red Chinese lanterns are suspended from the ceiling at the Centre Court as well as outside the Bukit Bintang entrance of the mall.

In addition thousands of red and pink cherry blossom flowers in vibrant colours will captivate your attention.

"Shoppers will be able to take photographs with our horses of fortune on our stage in the centre court daily until Feb 14. Look out for a variety of interesting performances at different times including classical instrument duets such as the Chinese Musical Medley, Sunny Angels and Twin Stars as well as lion dance shows and a meet and greet session with the God of Prosperity," said Kung.

Shoppers will also get a chance to meet the stars of the movie Hello Babies starring Raymond Wong and Fiona Sit who will be at the mall on Jan 23 at 7pm," she said.

Visitors to the mall can also give their children rides on the horse carousels at the Centre court.

The rides cost RM5 and are available from 10am to 10pm.

Shoppers also get fortune plant and angpow packets when they charge RM500 or more on their Maybank credit card in a single receipt.

The items can be redeemed at the Fashion Avenue Concierge on Level 2.

The top three spenders during the festive season will receive a Longines watch worth RM8,000.
