The list of nominations for the 87th annual Academy Awards was announced on Thursday, January 15.
The U.S. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the list of nominees in 24 categories in a two-part news conference from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Calif.
Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel are secured with nine nominations each, followed by The Imitation Game with eight and six for American Sniper and Boyhood respectively.
While, American Sniper, Birdman, Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game, Selma, The Theory of Everything and Whiplash are competing for Best Picture category.
