AirAsia has seemingly turned melancholy in their social media accounts following the confirmation that flight QZ8501 had lost contact with air traffic controller en route to Singapore.
As soon as the airline issued a formal statement confirming the lost flight, the profile picture and cover photo on their Facebook page has changed to a grey-coloured AirAsia logo and plain grey cover photo.
The same was done on AirAsia's twitter account profile picture, which was previously the carrier's signature bright red.
A few hours after the news circulated in local and international news, netizens created hashtags in the social media to follow updates and breakthroughs regarding the flight.
Among the hashtags are #PrayForQZ8501 and #QZ8501.
The flight, reported to have been carrying 155 passengers and crew, lost contact with air traffic control at 7.24am local time.
