Join Star Cruises’ Spice It Up! nasi kandar cooking competition to win cash and prizes
Do you cook a mean curry? Been told it's good? Maybe its even better than good! Put your best to the test in Star Cruises' Spice It Up! nasi kandar cooking competition from Aug 21 to 23.
The competition will see participants vying for bragging rights to cooking the best nasi kandar, if not in the land, at least on the sea.
The cook-off is divided into two categories -- professional and amateur. Chefs, apprentices, homemakers and anyone who loves to cook are welcome to join.
One of the highlights in Genting Hong Kong's 20th year celebration, the cook-off is endorsed by Penang Tourism and supported by the Penang chapters of Chefs Association of Malaysia and Malaysian Association of Hotels.
The winners will be invited to cook onboard SuperStar Aquarius when it is on its seasonal deployment in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, beginning Nov 6, as well as SuperStar Virgo when it calls in Penang.
Winners of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medallions will receive RM5,000, RM2,000 and RM1,000, respectively, and SuperStar Gemini cruises and certificates.
The Guests' Choice category award winners will take home cash and cruises.
Food lovers should seize the chance to taste the contestants' nasi kandar, as there will be a 30 per cent discount for SuperStar Libra cruises from Aug 21 to 23.
Genting Hong Kong Penang operations assistant vice-president Eric Sia said the participants' culinary skills would be most tested onboard the ship.
"Winners will get to demonstrate their culinary skills onboard various Star Cruises' ships to guests from around the world. It will be very interesting." he said at a press conference at the Swettenham Pier cruise terminal here recently.
