The New Straits Times-Maybank COTY2U Autoshow 2012, will feature more cars, motorcycles and test drives.
Taking place at the Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur from Nov 9 to 11, the COTY2U 2012 is slated to be the "biggest one yet" and promises to be the most memorable motor event of the year.
Being the precursor event to the annual New Straits Times-Maybank Car of the Year (COTY) Awards, COTY2U 2012 will feature 90 new or extensively updated models, among those that have been nominated for this year's COTY competition in their respective categories.
Visitors to the show can view the nominated models side-by-side, and stand a chance to win a brand new Vespa LX150 scooter by voting for the one model in the show that is worthy of the COTY "People's Choice" Award.
More than just a show about cars, COTY2U 2012 will whet the appetite of motorcycle enthusiasts with the largest annual display of the latest motorcycles, which includes dual purpose, street, sports, choppers and classic motorcycles.
There will also be a photo contest during the Autoshow. Take a picture of Kawasaki at its booth plus a picture of a COTY2U Autoshow poster and be in the running to win a Kawasaki D-Tracker. Pictures are to be submitted in colour print, sizes from a minimum4R (4" x 6") to a maximum8R (8" x 10") to: Cars Bike & Trucks c/o New Straits Times, Balai Berita, 31, Jalan Riong 59100 Kuala Lumpur.
There will also be courses on defensive driving and riding, as well as six educational seminars and talks on the subject of safety and security.
One of the highlights of the seminar and talk is the "Venus on Wheels" programme aimed at empowering female motorists.
The Automotive Institute of Malaysia will also be showing its road map for the Malaysian automotive industry at the Eco Innovation Corridor.
Lovers of classic machinery can treat themselves to the Asia Klasika 2012 classic car concours and the All Bike Concours, which will feature several classic cars and motorcycles from the pre-war era and right up to the modern classics of the 1980s. There will also be booths for exhibitors to showcase car accessories and gadgets.
"While COTY2U 2012 will have a celebratory atmosphere, it is important to point out that this is a serious autoshow with an important goal, which is to provide motorists with the information they need to make intelligent purchase choices and to promote safety among road users by educating them about new safety standards, tips and the latest technology available," said Yamin Vong, editor of Cars, Bikes & Trucks.
"In addition to public test drives, and a display of new and old cars and motorcycles, COTY2U 2012 will also highlight MIROS' New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) and the launch of the Eco Innovation Corridor."
While the COTY2U Autoshow will kick off with its launch at 10am on Nov 9, its doors will be opened to the public from 2.30pm onwards.
The second day will see the launch of the Eco Innovation Corridor, defensive driving course and All Bike Concours.
The final day of COTY2U 2012 on Nov 11 will see the debut of Mercedes-Benz's new SL roadster, along with the Asia Klasika 2012 classic car concours.
South East Asia's annual Asia Klasika 2012, with Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar of Johor as the royal patron, will include the first ever public display of exotic cars from the Royal Johor Automobile Collection.
The 3rd Malaysian International Vintage & Classic Car Concours on Nov 11 will see participants vying for top honours - the Sultan's Choice trophy and Best of Show award.
The entry fee for the COTY2U 2012 Autoshow is RM5, with all proceeds from the entry fee to be donated to charity. Maybank ATM and credit card holders will be exempted from the entry fee.

Shuttle service
A SHUTTLE service of 15 minutes intervals will be available to ferry visitors who park their vehicles outside the Matrade venue to the COTY2U 2012 Autoshow. Visitors can park at Masjid Wilayah,High Court and Publika.
